Exponex to Design Nordic Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Japan

Exponex has secured a contract to design and implement the exhibition for the Nordic Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan. Exponex will lead the project with Wintenex, Habegger, Kvorning Design, Rintala Eggertsson Architects, and the Icelandic design firm Gagarín.

The joint pavilion of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland aims to showcase Nordic unity. It will provide insight into Nordic life, values, and the close relationship these countries share with nature. The exhibition will highlight the ideals of Nordic societies, where trust, tolerance, and cooperation are fundamental. Global technological solutions will be integrated into the guest experience.

"We believe that the Nordic pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will not only strengthen the Nordic countries' position in the Japanese market but also attract Japanese visitors and positively impact the business of partners in Nordic export industries," said Dag Olav Koppervik, project manager of the Nordic pavilion.

The design team includes Kvorning Design, Rintala Eggertsson Architects, and Gagarín, among the most experienced exhibition designers in the Nordics. Over the past decade, they have designed numerous exhibitions and museums. The pavilion is produced under the leadership of Exponex from the Czech Republic and Wintenex and Habegger from Switzerland, who have extensive experience setting up international exhibition spaces, especially world expos.

Opportunities for Icelandic Export Companies

The Nordic exhibition pavilion will feature joint activities and events, including theme days focused on green solutions, the circular economy, lifestyle, and well-being. These events will highlight the Nordics' shared values and strengths and encourage cooperation and interaction between Nordic and Japanese stakeholders.

The wood pavilion will cover 1200 m² (13,000 ft²) and stand 17 m (55 ft) high. In addition to the exhibition, it will include conference rooms, meeting facilities, a shop, and a rooftop terrace with a café. Business Iceland will highlight Icelandic export industries on Iceland's theme days and invite companies to participate in related events.

The Nordic pavilion will demonstrate the Nordic countries' commitment to sustainability, innovation, and cooperation. Its vision aligns with "Vision 2030," aiming to make the Nordics the world's most sustainable and integrated region by 2030.

EXPO 2025 Osaka will unite countries worldwide to explore the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." The event will showcase innovative solutions, promote international cooperation, and encourage dialogue on shaping a sustainable, inclusive future.
