We are Whitby Seafish Limited and based in Staithes in North Yorkshire; we need a reliable source of herring to produce kippers.
We are seeking current keenest prices for herring, minimum order quantities, sizes available etc (ideal herring size would be 300 grams+), delivery lead-time for deliveries to our premises in Staithes; deliveries would probably start mid-January 2012. It would be useful to also have a guide price for mackerel a guide-price for mackerel, which we currently buy-in ready smoked. We intend to start smoking our own in the late spring. Can you introduce us to any likely trading partners?
At present we supply our own smoked salmon and hand-filleted wet fish to high-end users (restaurants and hotels) and some merchants in the Midlands and North of England, as well as kippers which we smoke ourselves although not in significant quantities.This is due to change soon and by Easter 2012 we expect to be producing 500+ kilos per week of kippers, at which point we will be looking to increase that significantly over 2012.
