You Are In Control
You are in Control - an international conference exploring digital business developments in the music, media and arts industries - will take place for the fourth consecutive year in Reykjavík, Iceland on October 1st and 2nd, 2010.
The conference - which this year is titled Creatives In The Digital World: Capitalising on Cooperation - is hosted by Iceland’s creative industries and aims to empower attendees with knowledge on how to manoeuvre in our fast changing digital distribution world.
You Are In Control brings together prominent players from all the creative industries to answer some of the digital world's most burning questions: How to expand the pie so everyone receives their fair share? What unites design, music, films, visual arts and gaming? How do business models already overlap and what does the future hold?
Iceland, despite its small population size of 300,000, has produced some big creative names such as Björk, Sigur Rós and CCP, a leading global multiplayer game company. The location backdrop, which has recently received global attention for volcanic activity, serves as a reminder that small origins can generate powerful and far-reaching effects.
Last year’s keynote speaker, IDEO‘s managing partner and co-chief Paul Bennett says, “It’s impossible not to be discovered. Everyone has the ability to broadcast in a way like never before. Now you can push your ideas out to the world from multiple channels. But it's about one word: collaboration.”
Speakers confirmed for 2010 include Yancey Strickler, cofounder of Kickstarter, Benji Rogers, creator of PledgeMusic and Christopher Peterka, founder of the consultancy firm Gannaca.
